Kheema (Minced Meat)

Ingredients  

  1. 2 cups hamburger or minced meat
  2. 1/2 cup chana daal (gram daal ) washed and soaked
  3. 2 cups chopped onions
  4. 2 tablespoons of ginger garlic paste
  5. 2 tablespoons of Shan Bombay Biryani Masala (Available in Indian grocery store)
  6. 7 tablespoons of tomato sauce
  7. 1 teaspoon of paprika
  8. 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  9. 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  10. 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  11. 5-6 cardamoms
  12. 10 peppercorns
  13. 7 cloves
  14. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  15. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  16. You can substitute daal for 1 cup green peas if you desire
  17. Cilantro to garnish

Method  

  • Take a pressure cooker. Add 2 tablespoons of oil
  • When oil is hot add cumin seeds cardamom, peppercorns, cloves and fry for a minute
  • To it add the onions, meat, ginger garlic paste, chana daal and sauté for a couple of minutes
  • Add the tomato sauce, all the spices and mix well.
  • Add half cup of water. Close lid and pressure cook for two whistles.
  • Turn off heat let sit for 3-4 minutes. Open and add lemon juice, if there is any water cook on low heat till all water is evaporated.
  • Add salt if needed as the masala has sodium
  • Garnish with cilantro and serve with bread, nan or roti
  • You can also use an insta pot to cook
