Ingredients
- 2 cups hamburger or minced meat
- 1/2 cup chana daal (gram daal ) washed and soaked
- 2 cups chopped onions
- 2 tablespoons of ginger garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons of Shan Bombay Biryani Masala (Available in Indian grocery store)
- 7 tablespoons of tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 5-6 cardamoms
- 10 peppercorns
- 7 cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- You can substitute daal for 1 cup green peas if you desire
- Cilantro to garnish
Method
- Take a pressure cooker. Add 2 tablespoons of oil
- When oil is hot add cumin seeds cardamom, peppercorns, cloves and fry for a minute
- To it add the onions, meat, ginger garlic paste, chana daal and sauté for a couple of minutes
- Add the tomato sauce, all the spices and mix well.
- Add half cup of water. Close lid and pressure cook for two whistles.
- Turn off heat let sit for 3-4 minutes. Open and add lemon juice, if there is any water cook on low heat till all water is evaporated.
- Add salt if needed as the masala has sodium
- Garnish with cilantro and serve with bread, nan or roti
