Pea and Potato Curry

This is the simplest and fastest recipe one could ever make. If you have unexpected guests drop in for a meal, this will be your life saver as these ingredients are easily  available at home. It can be served with rice, roti or naan. It can made with chicken for non-veg lovers.

Pea and Potato Curry

Ingredients 

  1. 1 cup chopped onions 
  2. 3/4 cup frozen peas 
  3. 2  medium chopped potatoes 
  4. 7 tablespoons of tomato sauce 
  5. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 
  6. 1 1/2 teaspoon of Shan Haleem Masala  
  7. 1 teaspoon paprika 
  8. 1/4 teaspoon tumeric powder 
  9. 1 teaspoon freshly ground cumin powder 
  10. 4 cardamoms 
  11. 6-7  black peppercorns 
  12. 4-5 cloves 
  13. 2 tablespoons oil 
  14. 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice 
  15. Cilantro to garnish 

Method  

  • Take a pressure cooker and heat 2 tablespoons of oil
  • When  oil is hot add cumin seeds ,cardamoms, cloves and black peppercorns 
  • When it crackles add onions ,peas,  potatoes, tomato sauce and all the spices
  • Add 2 1/2 cups of water and close the lid and cook for 2 whistles
  • Turn off heat and let sit for 5 minutes  
  • Open add lemon juice and cilantro and serve with rice or roti
  • For thicker gravy cook without lid on medium heat for a few  minutes
