This dish is made with milk, nuts, dates and vermicelli. This is a perfect desert for celebrations.
This recipe dates back from the times of trade along the old Silk Road. It is originally Persian but now popular across the Indian continent and Central Asia. It does not have to be Eid to make this yummy desert. In our household this desert is very popular among the kids and adults so I end up making this quite frequently.
Sheer Khurma

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of chopped cashews, pistachios & Almonds You can use more and less nuts according to taste
- 1/4 cup of raisins
- 6 seedless dates chopped
- 1 cup vermicelli
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup half and half
- 4 tablespoons condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- A pinch of saffron
Instructions
- Boil the milk in a heavy bottomed pot.
- Add the cardamom powder ,half and half, condensed milk and sugar
- Cook on low heat and get the milk to boiling point cook until the milk thickens a little
- In another pan heat 1 tablespoon of ghee
- Fry the nuts for 3-4 minutes and remove from pan
- In the same pan roast the vermicelli and since they are already roasted it will not take long to turn into light golden brown.
- Add the vermicelli ,nuts and dates to the milk and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Turn off heat serve and garnish with saffron and nuts
