Puff pastry is a flaky light pastry made from a laminated dough composed of dough and butter or other solid fat. The butter is put inside the dough, making a pattern which is repeatedly folded and rolled out before baking. It consists only of three ingredients: flour, butter and salt. Yet, it rises to great heights with no added leavening agent.
Chicken puff pastry can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen. Pastry is usually kept frozen. To thaw the puff pastry remove from freezer separate puff pastry sheets from one another. Place each puff pastry sheet on a separate plate.
Chicken puff pastry is a wonderful and perfect snack when you have company or even at tea time with family. It is easy to make and also the filling can be made ahead of time. It is used from appetizers to main courses to deserts.
