Peppered steak with mashed potatoes

Jamaican pepper steak is a Central American and Caribbean sliced beef dish that can be traced back hundreds of years to the first settlers and unslaved settlers that arrived from Europe and Africa to the region. Pepper steak became a staple among various island cuisines. The key difference between Caribbean or Jamaican pepper steak is the use of browning instead of soy sauce thickening and the use of habanero peppers instead of Chinese variations.

Pepper steak served with mashed potatoes makes an excellent combination for an entrée. We would often go out to have steaks but ever since I have been making this at home my family enjoys this dish in the comfort zone of home.

You can have it with mashed potatoes or noodles to suit your taste.

Peppered steak

Pepper steak consists of sliced  beef steak(often flank, sirloin or round ) cooked with sliced onions, green/red bell pepper and other seasonings such as soy sauce, ginger and usually thickened with cornstarch. Bean sprouts are frequent additions to this recipe.
It is served with mashed potatoes. I also went ahead and made some sides of green beans and steamed broccoli to make it a heartier meal.
