Peppered steak

Pepper steak consists of sliced  beef steak(often flank, sirloin or round ) cooked with sliced onions, green/red bell pepper and other seasonings such as soy sauce, ginger and usually thickened with cornstarch. Bean sprouts are frequent additions to this recipe. 
It is served with mashed potatoes. I also went ahead and made some sides of green beans and steamed broccoli to make it a heartier meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz steak thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic crushed
  • 1 tablespoon crushed ginger
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon siracha
  • 1 teaspoon steak sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the beef with ginger, garlic and black pepper for 30 minutes 
  • In a heated pan add two  teaspoons of sesame oil and add the beef
  • To it add soy sauce, siracha sauce and steak sauce 
  • Stir fry till it is medium well or well done according to your taste for about 10 minutes on high heat 
  • When done add the sugar and bell pepper  
  • Mix well and turn off heat 
  • Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetables
