Beef Cutlets

This recipe is very popular in European countries as well in South Asia. This recipe is great when you are craving comfort food and a perfect meal for kids and adults alike. This recipe has many different names depending on the country and culture. Despite different names they are all cutlet shaped patties made of ground meat marinated with ginger, garlic and other spices then covered with breadcrumbs dipped in egg and fried in a skillet. 
I make these cutlets and refrigerate them to make a quick sandwich when kids are hungry for a snack.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small bunch of chopped cilantro
  • 1 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 1 1/4 cup of green onions chopped
  • 1 green chili minced
  • 2 slices of bread soaked in water
  • 2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon red chilly powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Shan Bihari kabab masala available in Indian grocery store
  • 1 tablespoon of chili garlic sauce
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • Bread crumbs to coat the cutlets
  • Oil to shallow fry

Instructions
 

  • Put the ground beef in a bowl
  • Add to it all the spices cilantro, mint and green onions
  • Squeeze the water from the bread and add the bread to the beef and mix well
  • Make medium sized patties and cover them well with bread crumbs
  • Make oil hot in a non stick pan
  • Beat up three egg in a bowl
  • When the oil is hot keep on medium heat
  • Put one cutlet in a small plate and put egg to cover the cutlet on both sides
  • Then put the culet in the pan and with a spoon put more egg if necessary to coat the cutlet
  • Fry the cutlet on both sides till done
  • Remove on kitchen towel to absorb extra grease
  • Serve it as a hamburger or just cutlets with chutney of your choice ,ketchup ,salad and cookies
