Butter Chicken Meatballs

A tasty Indian dish incorporating spices, tomato sauce and heavy cream and butter as the base for the chicken meatballs. It can be served over rice or with naan (flat bread) but I prefer to serve with vegetable pilaf (aka veg pulao) so this way the dish incorporates proteins and well as vegetables.

Ingredients
  

Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup ground cashews
  • 1 teaspoon Shan butter chicken masala available in Indian grocery stores or online on Amazon
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Gravy

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup ground cashews
  • 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 6 teaspoons Shan Butter Chicken Masala
  • Cilantro to garni

Instructions
 

  • Add the dry spices to the ground chicken  
  • Add the egg and cream  
  • Mix well

  • Make balls  
  • Take pan and heat oil for shallow frying  
  • Fry meatballs on low to medium heat till cooked  
  • Remove in a plate 
  • For the sauce in the same pan  add butter to the heated pan  
  • Add ginger garlic paste and stir well for 30 seconds  
  • Add tomato sauce  
  • Add in the dry spices
  • Add the heavy cream and milk  
  • Add the ground cashews  
  • Add the oil and cook till you see the oil on top  
  • Add the meatballs and mix gently  
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes and turn off heat and garnish with cilantro
