Mutton Karahi

Mutton Karahi is a traditional dish of Pakistan and the Indian sub continent. This dish consists of mutton, tomatoes, ginger and garlic as its main ingredients. This dish is generally made in a karahi. It takes about 55 minutes of cook time but once its done and served  you cant stop eating.  It can be served with nan, roti and rice and garnished with cilantro, julienne ginger and cilantro.

Ingredients
  

  • Ingredients
  • 2 pounds mutton
  • 2 medium sized onions sliced
  • 6 Roma tomatoes
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste or sliced garlic or paste will do
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Shan Karahi masala
  • 5 green cardamom
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 10-12 peppercorns
  • 1 6 cloves
  • I teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 100 ml oil

Garnishing  

  • Julienne ginger
  • 1 green chili
  • cilantro  

Instructions
 

  • Collect all ingredients
  • Add cumin seeds, black peppercorns, cardamoms and cloves.
  • Add ginger and garlic and stir well
  • Add the onions and sauté till translucent
  • Add the mutton
  • Cover and cook for 15 mins between low and medium heat
  • Add the dry spices and stir well
  • Cover and cook for another 10 minutes
  • Remove cover, add yogurt and blend in
  • Add the tomatoes cover and cook for 25 minutes or till the mutton is cooked
  • Add cilantro, julienne ginger and green chili and serve with nan, paratha or rice
