Potato Patties - Aloo Tikki

Who does not love potatoes? Potatoes appeal to kids, adults and all in between. There are many recipes to transform the simple potato to exciting delectable dishes or snacks. This recipe with mashed potatoes, flattened rice (optional) and spices as its main ingredients make an addictive snack. Its easy and simple to prepare and can be made ahead of time and refrigerated to later consumption.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup soaked and drained Poha
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 minced green chilies
  • 1/4 cup finely sliced carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon tumeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to shallow fry

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl mix together all the ingredients  
  • Mix well and make patties about the same size. You can use an ice cream scoop
  • Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a non stick pan and fry the patties on both sides to a golden brown color 
  • Serve with your favorite chutney and enjoy
